Truvy is a health and wellness MLM company that has operated since 2014. People used to call it TruVision Health, but they rebranded to Truvy in 2015 May with the same team. They aim to make weight loss and healthy living easier with different nutritional supplements and other health and wellness products.

In 2018, the annual sales revenue reached over 100 Million Dollars, and they keep growing, which seems like a promising business opportunity for everyone.

However, is this an excellent opportunity to join and make it a primary income so you can be your own boss?

Let me share more details right below, so you can get enough information to be the judge yourself.

Inside Truvy

Truvy is a health and wellness MLM company with a wide range of products. Here are some products you’ll get, whether you are a customer or a member.

Product Lines

Truvy products fall into the below five categories:

  • Weight Loss: drinks and Truvy Boost™ 30-day combo pack
  • Vitamins & Supplements: gummies and vitamins
  • Protein: protein powder mix, protein cake, and protein popcorn
  • Patches: hemp patch and progesterone patch
  • Hydration: Heart &Hydration drink and truFIX® drink
  • Essential Oils: signature oils, blends, and diffuser(same as Young Living and doTERRA)

The famous Truvy™ 30-day Combo Pack is the flagship product; you may have heard it before this review. It sold over 3 million packs, including a 30-day supply of Tru™ and Vy Boost™ capsules.

They claim the below health benefits by following the instructions and intaking the capsules for 30 days:

  1. Revived Metabolism
  2. Natural Energy*
  3. Appetite Control
  4. Supports Blood Chemistry*

Do you notice that there are two tiny asterisks at the end of some benefits above? This means, “These statements have not been evaluated by the food and drug administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.”

If you use the wordings for your promotions on social media, you might get in trouble or fines by the authority.

Do Truvy Products Work?

I don’t use the products, so I cannot give you my firsthand experiences.

I found positive and negative things other real customers said about Truvy’s products on Amazon.

Those reviews are equally important to people who like to become Truvy’s associates since it’s a good reference for your future promotions.

Try the products yourself, so you will have more understanding and can recommend the right Truvy products to people.

-The Positive Reviews-

-The Negative Reviews-

How Does Truvy Work?

There are two ways to make money with Truvy:

  1. Selling Products: Sell Truvy products to earn your commissions.
  2. Recruiting: Recruit people to become your downlines to earn extra bonuses & incentives when your team makes more sales.

Getting Started

To start your Truvy journey, you must be of legal age and pay a $35 membership fee to join as an independent associate.

Then, you purchase one of the starter packs ranging from $22 to $145 and your next month’s order.

The cost doesn’t stop here.

To be active and be qualified for commissions, you need to have at least 75PV(personal volume) every month. Meaning you need to spend $75+ every month.

If you cannot sell to people, you might purchase the product to keep the membership and hope you can make it next month.

Now, let’s calculate the total cost of your first year joining Truvy:

  • $35 membership fee
  • $22-145 starter packs
  • $75 monthly requirement, $75*12=$900

The best case is that you only need to prepare $957, while the worst case is $1,080.

This is before you calculate other costs to run your Truvy business, such as additional training, travel, gas, food, or other miscellaneous expense, so the cost must be higher than my calculation here.

Truvy Compensation Plan

Like other industry MLMs, Truvy has a complicated compensation plan. I’ve tried my best to make things easier for you.

  1. Retail Difference: Earn commissions between wholesale price & associate price
  2. First Order Bonus: Earn 5-20% of the first orders(75 PV) placed by your customers or referrals
  3. Matching Bonus: Earn 10% commissions when your team grows
  4. Global Bonus Pools: Earn 3% of Truvy global commissionable volume when you are a 5-star director or above
  5. Eight Plus Star Pools: Earn 1% of Truvy global commissionable volume when you are an 8-star director or above
  6. Go Bonus: Earn $50-$300 when you have a certain amount of personally sponsored associates under your team within the first three calendar months
  7. UniLevel: Earn an extra 5-7% of all your downline purchases when you have 100PV in a given month. This can go 8 levels deep.

Have a headache now? Don’t worry.

If you sell the products and recruit as many downlines as possible, you will receive one bonus after another. This usually is how MLM works.

How Much Do You Need to Sell to Stay Active?

To stay as an active member, you need to have 75PV or greater.

To earn commissions and bonuses, you must have one order placed by your downline or recruit someone as an associate.

Ugly Truth About Truvy

TOP#1 Expensive Products

Truvy’s products are lower priced than other MLM companies but are still more expensive than other competitors.

Taking its signature Truvy Boost 30-day combo pack as an instance, it is priced at $89 for 30 days.

However, if you find similar products on Amazon, you will find many affordable products with the same benefits.

Most of them cost $12-$20, which is 4-7 times less than Truvy’s products. So, I don’t see the point in buying expensive products when I can find affordable alternatives online.

TOP#2 Saturated & Competitive Market

When it comes to the weight-loss industry, it’s a super competitive market.

In 2019, the U.S. weight loss & diet control market was worth a record $72 billion, and everyone wants to share a part.

Weight loss products will never go out of style, and there is always someone around you who talks about the latest weight-loss capsules in the market.

I’ve reviewed other MLMs that sell the same product to help people control their weights. Name a few here to prove my point:

They all have flagship weight-loss products to help people, so what does make Truvy stand out from the crowd?

TOP#3 No Income Disclosure

Compared to other long-lasting MLMs like Avon, Amway, or Shaklee, Truvy might be younger.

It doesn’t mean that they cannot provide income disclosure. Making outsiders like you and me cannot get the idea of how much a Truvy associate makes per year.

Without this information, it’s hard to tell whether this is an excellent opportunity.

TOP#4 FDA Warning

In 2017, FDA sent a warning letter to Truvy for multiple violations of the Current Good Manufacturing Practice(CGMP) and the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.

They were marketing their products as drugs on the official website, and some products had incorrect labels & wrong serving sizes per bottle.

What I Liked About Truvy

TOP#1 Many Positive Reviews

In the weight-loss niche, it’s good to see that Truvy products work, and they have many positive reviews.

You can check this page to see success stories shared by Truvy’s loyal customers, and I got to tell you that some are pretty impressive.

This is also a good sign and makes it easier to sell Truvy products since you have many positive results.

TOP#2 A 30-Day Refund Policy

If you are unsatisfied with the products or anything, you can request a refund within thirty (30) days of delivery.

The returned item should be in marketable condition, and you need to cover the shipping cost. You probably get a 90% refund(less shipping costs.)

Can You Make Money Selling Truvy?

Yes, you can make money by selling Truvy’s products, especially for extroverts who love to see different people every day and share your exceptional positive results after trying Truvy’s products.

If you succeeded in weight loss by trying Truvy’s 30-day Combo Pack, I believe you have a greater chance to make money with Truvy.

Since they don’t offer any income disclosure, it’s impossible to know the percentage of Truvy members who make money or how much they make per year. Based on my understanding, only 1% can make decent money with any MLM company in the industry.

Is Truvy A Pyramid Scheme?

According to Wikipedia’s definition of a pyramid scheme, “A pyramid scheme is a business model that recruits members via a promise of payments or services for enrolling others into the scheme, rather than supplying investments or sale of products,” Truvy is not a pyramid scheme because it offers dietary supplements.

On the other hand, the Truvy compensation plan mainly focuses on recruitment. The only way to avoid losing money is to recruit new customers or associates with 75PV+ orders consistently, and this is why some others call Truvy a pyramid scheme in disguise.

Is Truvy A Scam?

No, Truvy is not a scam at all. I would say it’s better to be Truvy customers than associates because 99% of them lose money, so I won’t recommend my readers join it.

Meanwhile, when it comes to making money online, there are plenty of options on the internet, such as freelancing, dropshipping, GPT sites, drop servicing, or affiliate marketing. Wanna know my top pick? Read on!

My Alternative Way to Make Money Online

My alternative way to make money online is through affiliate marketing instead of promoting Truvy products in person.

Imagine you sell Truvy products to your friends, family, or anyone you know. Don’t you feel embarrassed or blushed? They might avoid you ever since.

Doing affiliate marketing will save you from that:

  • It’s free to start your affiliate marketing business.
  • You don’t need to buy physical products and sell them face to face.
  • There is no monthly minimum sales quota in affiliate marketing.
  • You don’t recruit people to become your downlines to build a team.
  • You are not restricted to promoting one product. You can promote anything you like!
  • Work on your schedules & you are your OWN BOSS!

You only need to start a blog with quality content. So every time people land on your site to read your product reviews or other articles, they will find insight and value.

If they like it, they may purchase the products or services via your links. Here come your earning potentials.

  1. Hey Matt! Thanks a lot for this Truvy review. I think the products look like they can help. According to those positive reviews. But what I really don’t like is that they are way too expensive. This in connection with a saturated market it will make it difficult for anyone to make a decent living out of it. Do you know if they push their marketers to do monthly purchases? Your recommendation is really a no-brainer. Cheers

    • Hi Julius,
Yes, MLM products cost much more than the drugstore brands because they need to pay a small portion of the profits to all distributors. By doing that, they can keep the business going. I don’t think it’s a good idea for an introvert like me, so I chose affiliate marketing to make money online.

For Truvy, there is no monthly quota you need to achieve. But, to be eligible for commissions and stay active, you must have 75PV or greater in a calendar month, a total of $900 in one year. If you cannot sell that much product to your customers, you probably purchase $75 worth of product for yourself, making you the most loyal customer of Truvy.

      Cheers,
      Matt

  2. Hi Matt, Thank you very much for your interesting review! I think I know them as TrueVision and heard perfect things about their products. I tried decades ago also earning money by joining a cosmetic company which makes milliards. It is called Mary Kay, and they are pretty good at giving gifts and promotions. But I stopped it because it is not for me to contact people directly to sell products to earn money.
You said that FDA had given a warning, but they are false, greedy for money, and not to trust! FDA makes many mistakes!
I love your article part where you describe affiliate marketing! It is an excellent opportunity to earn money without actual contact. You are so right! I recommend the same platform to people because Wealthy Affiliate is trustworthy, supportive, and the costs are very low compared to what people can earn. Great article, Matt! I enjoyed it very much! 🙂

    • Hi Sylvia,

Yes, they were called TruVision in the past but rebranded to Truvy in 2015. I love you shared your Mary Kay experiences here, and it’s good to know that you quitted in the end. It’s so true that only 1% of MLM members who sit on the top ranks can make decent money. The rest 99% only fail to make cents.

As for affiliate marketing, it’s indeed the best way for newbies to make money online. Wealthy Affiliate teaches me everything I need to build my online business, and I think it’s the place to go.

      Cheers,
      Matt

  3. Hi Matt,

Truvy is really expensive. I recently bought some supplements online, not for weight loss but something else, and you can find good deals on Amazon. $89 US when you can get similar products that are much cheaper isn’t worth it. It seems to work, though, as I can tell from the many positive reviews. There will always be a few negative reviews but if the positive reviews outweigh the negative ones, then the product must work. I just wouldn’t spend that much money on it. I would get a cheaper brand as a customer.
As a Truvy representative, you also need to spend too much money. I think that the costs of being an associate are too high, and it puts too much pressure on you to reach the expected money goal, especially if you’re a newbie.

    • Hi Christine,

Yes, spending 1k to join an MLM business is expensive for me too. They mark up 30-40% of the price because they have to pay its associates the commissions. Otherwise, the system cannot go smoothly. If the cost to join any program is too high, it would be tough to recoup the investment, let alone turn actual profits.

So, I don’t really recommend people to try MLM to make money, but another method, Affiliate Marketing. People should try Wealthy Affiliate if they are interested. I’ve leveraged it to make consistent online income. If I can do this, they can make it too. 🙂

      Cheers,
      Matt
