What Is Boisset Collection?

-Summary of Boisset Collection-

Product Name: Boisset Collection
Founders: Jean-Claude and Claudine Boisset in 1961
Product Type: A Wine MLM(Multi-Level Marketing)

Boisset Collection is a wine MLM company that sells various wines & accessories and has a business plan for wine lovers to make money simultaneously.

It started in 1961 when Jean-Claude and Claudine Boisset embarked on a career in the wine trade. 60 years later, Boisset unites the old and new worlds of wine from France and America and has become one of the Top 25 wine producers in the United States.

However, is this a “work from home and be your own boss” business opportunity? Let me share details right below so that you can get enough information to be the judge yourself.

Inside Boisset Collection

We have many things to discuss today, but let’s start with the wines first.

Product Lines

Boisset Collection has a wide collection of wines from California, France, England, and India. The wines fall into the below categories:

  • Red: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, etc
  • White: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and other blends
  • Rosé: Pinot Noir Rosé, Brut Rosé, French Sparkling Rosé, etc
  • Sparkling: Méthode Traditionnelle Brut, Sparkling Wine, French Sparkling Rosé, etc

Besides the wines, they also provide jewelry, accessories, and homeware. You’ll have more options to promote than just wines, which gives you more chances to make sales.

Other wine MLMs I’ve reviewed are Scout and Cellar, Traveling Vineyard, and OneHope Wine. They are all selling wines and providing a business plan to make money. You can check each of them to pick the one that suits you the best.

How To Make Money With Boisset Collection?

There are two ways to make money with any MLM business, and Boisset Collection is no exception.

  • Selling products to make commissions.
  • Recruiting people to become your downlines for extra bonuses and incentives

You don’t make money by recruiting people but by the sales made by your downlines or their downlines. This is the difference between a pyramid scheme and a legit MLM business.

Getting Started

When you sign up as Wine Ambassador(distributor), you need to purchase a kit. Here are the options:

Starter Kits

-Digital Package $49-

This package gains you access to its digital platform training tools and online marketing resources. You’ll also have a $25 product credit plus a free 90-day subscription to the Cellar Suite platform. *No wine included!

-Essentials Package $169-

It has six bottles of wine, professional wine tools, and marketing materials. You will receive a $25 product credit, 125 Personal Volume, plus a free 90-day subscription to the Cellar Suite platform.

-Deluxe Package $289-

On top of what you have in the Essential Package, you’ll receive six more bottles and 125 more Personal Volume.

Cellar Suite

Cellar Suite is free for your first 90 days; after that, it’s $14 per month or $120 per year. You’ll get your website, access to education & training, customer & sales reporting, and online marketing tools.

The cost doesn’t stop here. WHAT? I can hear you screaming, yeah!

To stay active as a wine ambassador, you must have at least 250 PV every month to remain in the program. Let’s calculate the one-year cost:

  1. Starter Kits $49-$289
  2. Cellar Suite $120 per year
  3. Monthly Requirement 250PV*12=$3,000

The best case is that you spend $3,169, while the worst is $3,409. Other costs are not included, such as additional training, gas, travel, and miscellaneous expenses needed for your wine business. If we count everything in, the actual cost must be higher than my calculation here.

Boisset Collection Compensation Plan

There are six ways to make money with Boisset Collection. I have headaches every time I read the compensation plan from each MLM.

They all like to make their terms and fancy acronyms to make people see many ways to make money. I’ve tried my best to make things easier for you:

  • Personal Commission: Earn 15%-25% based on your personal and customer purchases
  • Personal Sales Bonuses: Earn an extra 3%-10% on top of your Personal Commission once you hit 3,000PV
  • Onboarding Bonus: Earn 5% on the CV made by your new level-1 recruits during their first 90 days
  • Level Bonuses: 3%-8% bonuses of CV made by your level-1 and level-2 downlines when you are Associate Ambassador or higher
  • Team Building Bonuses: Earn $35-$500 when you hit Senior Director or above and have downline Director or higher in your organization
  • Generation Bonuses: Earn 2%-3% on the sales of the generations that develop below you. This goes up to 3 levels deep.

Feel sleepy? You can check the detailed compensation plan on this page. Or, just remember to sell more wines and recruit more people to become your downlines & teach them to do the same.

Once you become a recruiting machine and a full-time sales manager, you’ll start seeing good money flooding your bank account.

How Much Do You Need to Sell to Stay Active?

To stay active and be eligible for commissions, you must have at least 250 PV per month.

Ranks

There is a total of 8 ranks in the compensation plan. You go one from another by achieving specific sales targets and the quantities of downlines you recruit.

The higher the ranks, the more requirements you need to maintain your ranks.

Ugly Truth About Boisset Collection

TOP#1 No Income Disclosure

Boisset has operated for six decades, but they don’t release any income disclosure on the website, making it impossible to know the average annual income for each ambassador.

Maybe they are only providing this document to the ambassadors or hiding something. We never know the number if there are no references online.

TOP#2 Monthly Minimum Sales

You must have at least 250PV per month to stay active and qualify for commissions.

However, if you cannot sell the products, you may purchase 250PV for your own use. This makes you the most loyal customer, just like any other ambassadors who can’t achieve 250PV.

This helps the company save the marketing and advertising costs to promote the business since you buy wines from them monthly. This is the reason people fail to make money with MLM in nature.

TOP#3 Celler Suite

It’s free for the first 90 days, but you need to pay $14 per month or $120 per year afterward.

Most MLMs provide a personal website for free along with other training and support. But, it seems a bit pricey to cover this cost.

Pro Tip: How I Build A Site in One Minute?

TOP#4 Not Available Everywhere

Every state has its own rules about wine delivery. Most states allow the wine to be shipped to your front door, while the below states marked in white don’t.

Before joining a wine MLM, you need to know the regulations. If you live in the states that allow direct shipment of wine to consumers, it’s good to go.

What I Liked About Boisset Collection

TOP#1 The Longevity

More than half of new businesses fail during the first year, 45% during the first five years, and 65% during the first ten years.

Boisset Collection has operated since 1961, so it’s safe to say they won’t disappear tomorrow.

TOP#2 Good Commission Rate

As an ambassador, you earn 15%-25% commissions on the CV of all your personal and customer purchases. If you hit 10,000 PV that month, the commission rate rises to 35%.

TOP#3 Charities

Boisset does many charities to help children, such as Amikids Emerald Coast, Ascension Sacred Heart, Boys & Girls Clubs, etc.

Whether they are doing this for a publicity stunt, it’s still wonderful to see them giving back to society and spreading their support.

Can You Make Money Selling Boisset Collection?

Yes, I am sure you can make money with Boisset Collection, especially those extroverts who like to meet different people and talk about wines repeatedly. If you enjoy drinking, then Boisset Collection might bring you a potential income.

Since no income disclosure statements are available online, we cannot know each rank’s average annual income.

Based on this FTC document, 99% of MLM participants lose money. Meaning only 1% make profits. So, it’s not a “work from home and be your own boss” opportunity.

I don’t recommend you quit your 9-5 jobs and make this your primary income since it’s far from enough to pay your bills, let alone support your family.

Is Boisset Collection A Pyramid Scheme?

Let’s read Wikipedia’s definition of a pyramid scheme. “A pyramid scheme is a business model that recruits members via a promise of payments or services for enrolling others into the scheme, rather than supplying investments or sale of products.”

Boisset Collection offers various wines and a business plan for wine lovers to make money, so we won’t call it a pyramid scheme.

Is Boisset Collection A Scam?

No, it’s not a scam either. Typically, a scam or a pyramid scheme cannot survive the first year once people complain and report to the authority.

If they were a scam, they couldn’t survive this long and keep growing for the next decade.

When it comes to making money online, there are plenty of options on the internet, such as freelancing, dropshipping, GPT sites, drop services, or affiliate marketing. Wanna know my top pick? Read on!

My Alternative Way to Make Money Online

My alternative way to make money online is through affiliate marketing instead of promoting Boisset Collection products in person.

Imagine you sell Boisset Collection products to your friends, family, or anyone you know. Don’t you feel embarrassed or blushed? They might avoid you ever since.

Doing affiliate marketing will save you from that:

  • It’s free to start your affiliate marketing business.
  • You don’t need to buy physical products and sell them face to face.
  • There is no monthly minimum sales quota in affiliate marketing.
  • You don’t recruit people to become your downlines to build a team.
  • You are not restricted to promoting one product. You can promote anything you like!
  • Work on your schedules & you are your OWN BOSS!

You only need to start a blog with quality content. So every time people land on your site to read your product reviews or other articles, they will find insight and value.

If they like it, they may purchase the products or services via your links. Here come your earning potentials.

  1. Hi Matt,
Thank you for your in-depth review of this MLM company called Boisset Collection. In general, the MLM is a type of business that requires as you mentioned extrovert personality. As well, you have to start with your family and friends mostly. On the other hand, this product has really huge potential. I have a question if you need to make 250v monthly does it equal 3000$? However, the option you suggested looks like the better one. I like the idea that you can start a business with any product and any kind of hobby. Cheers

    • Hi Julius,

Thanks for stopping and leaving your honest comment. I hope my Boisset Collection review helps you well. 🙂

The nature of MLM is designed for extroverted people who like to meet different people every day for selling or recruiting, but it’s not for everyone. Not to mention the high start-up cost.

I believe 250PV doesn’t equal $250 since every MLM product’s commissionable volume is always lower than the price, so you should know that it takes a lot to start a business with Boisset Collection. In that case, I would rather be a customer instead of a business partner…

On the other hand, my recommendation, affiliate marketing is simple and easy to follow. Everyone can start a blog to run an affiliate marketing business from today. I’ve leveraged Wealthy Affiliate to make a passive income stream, and I am sure you can make it too.

  2. I would definitely not call Boisset collection a scam or even a pyramid scheme. It is, as you said in your review an MLM and I feel it is best for those who really really love vines and would like to earn income by selling the “stuff” to other vine-lovers. As a beer-lover, I don’t see myself selling these expensive packages to make money. And I generally don’t like MLMs because you have to invest a lot of money upfront before you actually get a chance to sell anything and earn some money yourself. So thanks again for your review, but I’ll pass on this one!

    • Hi Ivan,

Yes, this opportunity is not designed for a beer lover like you, so you may choose other ways to make money online. 🙂

MLMs require people to pay for starter kits and monthly sales quota first to qualify for commissions and bonuses, and this is why I don’t recommend people to try MLMs.

On the other hand, affiliate marketing is the best way to make money online. You can start a blog to run an affiliate marketing business today.

      Cheers,
      Matt
