Six Figure Mentors(SFM) is a platform built in 2010, and you could join for free and learn all the knowledge of Affiliate Marketing by different plans. They do provide over 6500 e-Learning courses in Business, Marketing, Creative and Technology.
SFM’s passion is helping individuals achieve their lifestyle goals and the students we’ve been proud to see succeed in the affiliate marketing of any niche.
They mention SFM is created to help you achieve a lifestyle with a laptop by following their training step by step!
It sounds quite well since I am also chasing my dream to be a digital nomad that I only need my MacBook Air for my online business anywhere at any time!
Meet The Founders
SFM is co-founded by Stuart Ross & Jay Kubassek. They are both passionate to share their marketing experience with students who also want to chase financial freedom.
So, they created Six Figure Mentors and another platform – Digital Experts Academy(DEA). Based on my findings, SFM is connected to DEA and DEA membership is the upsells of SFM.

If I don’t know this company, I would check on all social media to see whether they are real or just a fake. Look what I found on Linkedin of both Stuart and Jay.
This should be a default setting of a correct mindset to avoid any online scams, and I have written a post on this.
I like to check as much social media as possible to examine their career and private life, and I think this is a good way to protect your hard-earned money from the bad hands.
Sometimes, this is so similar to play a “Hide & See” game with the founders. If they try to hide more things, I would like to uncover their secrets behind their platform to see what’s the real stuff inside.

How SFM Program Works?
Step 01: You see SFM ads from another blog, Facebook/Instagram ads, or YouTube ads! Once you click SFM ads, you will be directed to the leading capture page they want to convince you.
Step 02: On their leading page, what they do is to request for your email and name, then they could provide you a 7-day training of what a laptop lifestyle looks like.
Step 03: They would give you the training course! During the training, they talk about affiliate marketing and pitch why their business model works well to support a laptop lifestyle and why to join SFM.
Step 04: You purchase essential membership of SFM which is $29.95 per month. It seems little, but it’s just the start of the following upsells. You could not use the whole system, and you need to pay more for more features.
Step 05: Contact your assigned business consultant for all your questions via Skype call, and they do answer your questions. What their intention behind all of this is to ask you to upgrade your membership to the next level with more money.
Step 06: You pay more money in order to get more help from SFM, but you would find out it’s another upsell after another upsell.
I don’t want to criticize this system, but it’s obviously multi-level marketing(MLM) or close to a pyramid scheme.
Plans & Services
SFM Membership
- Affiliate Access: FREE(don’t have access to all tools at SFM except one introduction course)
- Student Access: $29.95 + $25/month (Optional)
- Essential Membership: $297 + $97 per month
- Elite Membership: $2,500 + $97 per month
The Affiliate Access is FREE, but you only get access to one introduction course and nothing else. I would not have a chance to take a peek of other great features in this platform, so I won’t describe SFM got a real FREE trial.
From Student to Elite membership, you got more and more training courses. Besides, you would also have an assigned business consultant to answer your questions and problems you might face along your SFM adventure!

Tools & Services
- Digital Business Lounge: a platform to create a beautiful website
- Simple Lead Capture: A Lead Page Builder

DEA Membership
There are more levels in SFM! Beyond Elite, there is a whole new level called “Digital Experts Academy“(DEA)
It is an advanced digital entrepreneur program, and it aims to help SERIOUS entrepreneurs who want to turn their ideas and creativity into a sustainable online business.
There are four levels:
- DEA Silver: $2,500
- DEA Gold: $8,000
- DEA Platinum: $11,000
- DEA Black: $20,000
For me, SFM’s membership is way too expensive! I don’t think which online marketing program could mark their prices like this. Unless it’s multi-level marketing disguised as a legit online marketing program.
You could see the payment structure from SFM HERE. Most commissions ONLY range from 5%-10%, and you could make more commission by selling costly memberships.
If you could only take 5%-10% commissions, it means 90%-95% of the membership fee falls into the founders’ pocket, right?
What I Liked About Six Figure Mentors
TOP#01. Need-To-Know Training & Video
SFM indeed provides the Need-To-Know training and videos that aim to make it easier for you to make money online. It teaches beginners something they need to know in the early stage of their online business.
The knowledge is valuable to beginners, and I find them quite useful too!
TOP#02. Basic Knowledge
Digital Business Lounge helps you to create a beautiful website, and it also provides you the knowledge about how to run your website.
For example, website hosting, domain purchase, encrypted SSL, Graphics creator, YouTube manager, SEO, etc… It’s quite using for an online business, so I think SFM did have its own value.
But! You paid for $97 to get this, what would you do if you only need to pay $49(almost half price) to get the same feature?
TOP#03. 30-day Refund Guarantee
For any program that doesn’t guarantee a refund, I would not suggest you join. Why? If you don’t test some program and try to use it for at least a few days, you would not have a chance to know whether it suits you or not.
Like I mentioned in this post, refund policy in 2019 is the basic elements should be considered before you joined any online marketing program since there are more and more scams out there. What we could do is to protect ourselves without being scammed.
Ugly Truth About Six Figure Mentors
TOP#01. Very Expensive
Comparing to Wealthy Affiliate, the pricing listed in SFM seems way higher!
For a beginner of affiliate marketing, the over-charged is something that we would overthink at night and would definitely become sleepless if we don’t see the results in the first 3-6 months.
Why? Because I’ve experienced this!
Let’s imagine if there is a program that only costs you around $49 a month which is close to half of $97(the essential membership of SFM). Would it be better for all beginners? My answers would be “YES!“
Let’s review the below pricing from SFM. After the essential membership, the price rises to $2,500 per year which is around $200 per month. It’s costly, but there are other nice and decent programs that charge the same.
For the next packages of DEA memberships, the prices are very expensive to me, and I think you might be shocked too.

TOP#02. Many Upsells
There are other signs to see whether a program is a scam or not, and having many upsell is one of them. So, it’s very important you know all the pricing thoroughly before jump into any program.
I am not very sure about your financial status at the moment, but I wouldn’t spend up to $20,000 for any affiliate marketing programs on the Internet if I have that money in my pocket.
Remember, you could get the same stuff and service at only $49, why shall we spend so much more for SFM?
TOP#03. Pay To Be An Affiliate
For many online marketing platforms, they are normally free to join or have a 3-day at least. Although SFM does allow you to join for free, it seems like you are paying just to be one of its affiliates in their system.
SFM’s successful Story
Although I think SFM is more like multi-level marketing or a pyramid scheme, there is still someone makes a huge income by SFM.
It’s no surprise since only the founders and the top1-2% member could really have a laptop lifestyle just like in the 7-day training course.
Gerard in this video purchased DEA Black $20,000 which is the highest ticket in this system, so he could make a huge commission back once he recruits any referrals into the same system.
Before DEA black membership, he also paid for the previous memberships until he got his black membership finally. Not sure how many of you could afford these high-ticket upsells?
Think about it twice and consider how much you could afford to fail before you join any online marketing program!
Is SFM & DEA a Scam?
For the training and tools SFM provides, I would not describe it’s an online scam.
SFM & DEA are more like a multi-level marketing and pyramid scheme to me, and they do provide a 30-day refund guarantee to all students who don’t like it after purchases. So, if you dislike and want to take your money back, you still have a chance.
The real problem with SFM is its pricing which is too expensive, and you would feel extremely stressed once you don’t see any positive results in a short period.
Don’t get me wrong here! Although SFM is not an online scam, I would not recommend it too.
My Alternative Way to Make Money Online
My alternative way to make money online is through Affiliate Marketing.
The best part of affiliate marketing is you don’t even need to buy any physical or digital products and sell to someone face to face!
You only need to create a website or YouTube channel with quality content that makes people trust you then purchase them through your links. The platform I am using currently is Wealthy Affiliate. I chose it is for all the training courses, every Friday night LIVE training courses, 24/7 sitesupport, and the most friendly community.
