Is Norwex A Scam?

I assume someone introduced you Norwex and it seems a good opportunity to make money online. So, you googled “Is Norwex A Scam?” or “Can You Make Money Selling Norwex?” and came to my website.

First of all, I have to give you a big hug first for doing your homework before really joining any online programs. This is the correct step to understand better the program itself and evaluate whether how suitable it is for you.

There are so many online scams that only cost you a lot without helping you make any pennies, so you are on the right track. For more ways to avoid online scams, you could check HERE.

Secondly, Norwex has eco-friendly products with many positive reviews on the internet, so it is not a scam at all. But, when it comes to business opportunities/make money part, I don’t think everyone suits it.

I am not affiliated with Norwex since I don’t like to host home parties to promote Norwex products to my friends, family, or anyone I know. I will explain with details further down.

What Is Norwex?

-Summary of Norwex-

Product Name: Norwex
Founders: founded in 1994 by Bjørn Nicolaisen in Norway
Product Type: Home cleaning & personal care MLM(Multi-levels Marketing)
Price: $200(starter kits)
Rating: 40 / 100
Recommend: No

Norwex is founded by Bjørn Nicolaisen in Norway in 1994. Bjørn Nicolaisen discovered a microfiber that could effectively clean a dirty windshield with only water. Meaning you don’t need to use lots of chemicals to clean our houses.

He began with this microfiber then expanded to all kinds of home cleaning products & personal care products with the same revolutionary approach – cleaning without chemicals.

In 2007, Norwex introduced a patented technology called Baclock which is a silver-based antibacterial agent that is also embedded into its top-seller product – Enviro Cloth.

Instead of killing the bacteria when you clean a surface with Enviro Cloth, it picks 99% of it from the surface. Then, the silver in the cloth kills the bacteria on Enviro Cloth over time.

Environ Cloth is the most famous product from Norwex.

What’s inside Norwex?

Since 1994, Norwex developed many products to clean every corner of the house. I won’t go through every item in this post. I will only talk about things that interest me the most and they are probably my target items to sell to my friends if I decide to become a Norwex consultant.

Product Lines

  • Microfiber: The most famous Norwex product – Enviro Cloth, Window Cloth, Dusting Mitt, etc.
  • Household: Kitchen, Bathroom, Bedding, and Laundry related products. This includes All-purpose Kitchen Cloth, Mattress Cleaner, Liquid Laundry Detergent, Bathroom Cleaner, and Essential Oils.(Similar to Young Living & doTERRA)
  • Personal Care: skincare products, Makeup Removal cloth, Lip & body balm, etc.
  • Family: Kids Towel, Baby Hooded Towel, Sport Towel, Car Cloth, Pet Towel, etc

Norwex develops its microfiber to all kinds of cloth we need in the house, including towels we use every day, cleaning clothes, sport cloth, kid cloth, and pet cloth. Basically, every product from Norwex is eco-friendly! You can check HERE for Norwex 2019 catalog.

Does Norwex Enviro Cloth Work?

Yes, they work well based on my research. There is more positive feedback than negative ones. Although there are still some complaints, these are mainly about the cancellation and refund policy.

How Does Norwex Work?

There are two main ways to make money by Norwex, and these are as same as other MLM companies.

  1. Selling Norwex products to earn commissions
  2. Recruiting people to sell Norwex products

Getting Started

You need to sign up to become a Norwex consultant. Norwex will offer a starter kit($200) and you could use that to host home parties & sell to you invited friends or anyone you know.

If you have a minimum of $2,000 in retail sales during the first 90 days, Norwex will not charge you the $200 starter kit. If not, you will be billed for the starter kit.

If you have a minimum of $2,000 in retail sales during the first 90 days, Norwex will not charge you the $200 starter kit. If not, you will be billed for the starter kit.

This is the biggest complaint from those who sign up to become a Norwex consultant since it is written in a smaller font in Norwex’s Success Builder booklet. So, please read carefully when you sign up for any online marketing/ MLM programs.

The Compensation Plan

Here comes the most important part of Norwex review – The compensation plan. It’s better we know all the rules before we play the game. Just like if you don’t read carefully for the starter kit($200), you might end up being charged for it.

Free Starter Kit: Norwex provides you the starter kit for FREE when you achieve $2,000 in retail sales within your first 90 days from the date of enrollment.

Retail Commission: 35% of on your personal retail sales (no minimum sales required). Norwex encourages every consultant to host home parties to boost sales. The idea is the more home parties, the more money you’ll make.

$300 Free Product: If you recruit a new consultant who also makes a $2,000 in retail sales during the first 90 days after enrollment, you will get a $300 value product of your choice. If you get two, then you will get $600 products of your choice and so on.

For more details of Norwex’s compensation plan, you are more than welcome to check HERE or watch the below YouTube video.

How Much Do You Need to Sell to Stay Active?

To main as an active Norwex consultant, there are some requirements you need to achieve.

Every Norwex consultant must have a minimum of $250 in personal retail sales in a rolling three-month period.

If you fail to meet this requirement for six (6) consecutive months, your account is considered dormant and you need to pay a re-activation fee.

If you make $0 in retail sales for 12 consecutive months, Norwex will remove you from the organization.

Norwex Ranking

There are 8 different rankings for Norwex’s MLM system as below screenshot. The higher the ranking, the more requirements you need to achieve.

For example, the rank after sales consultant is team coordinator. To keep active as a team coordinator, you need to recruit at least 3 new consultants that make $250 during the first 90 days. As for yourself, you need to have a minimum of $250 in personal retail sales in each calendar month.

Norwex Rankings

What I Liked About Norwex

TOP#1 Environment-friendly Products

“Cleaning your house without any chemicals” I love this idea, and I will definitely use its Enviro cloth without considering the price.

It’s great that we have more companies that focus on creating environment-friendly products, so we can keep the place we are living sustainably for the next generations.

TOP#2 60-Day Satisfaction Guarantee

“What if I don’t like Norwex’s products?” You must scare that your customers ask this question.

Don’t worry! Norwex provides a 60-day guarantee if the products don’t meet 100% of the expectation. They will refund, replace or exchange any products within 60 days of purchase.

Norwex is also proud of its unique & high-quality microfiber, so they offer a 2-year microfiber warranty for any problem you may encounter outside of normal wear and tear.

Ugly Truth About Norwex

TOP#1 No Income Disclosure(Not Transparent)

Norwex runs business more than 25 years so far, but there is no income disclosure on its website. This is not transparent for everyone who likes to make money with Norwex.

It’s quite important that people need to know the averagely annual income of a consultant to make up their minds becoming a Norwex consultant. If there is no income disclosure from Norwex, I will assume the annual income is so low that they don’t want you to know.

TOP#2 Home Parties

This is the reason I don’t like Norwex much. They encourage you to host home parties to maximize your earnings, and you can host once every week or 5 times a week.

To be honest, I personally don’t like to sell things in person/face to face, so I won’t give Norwex a try. Another concern is you only host home parties to your friends, family, or colleagues when you first start. It’s highly possible that they might avoid you next time you ask them to join your home parties.

Just try to imagine the way you are going to show them Norwex’s Enviro Cloth. I don’t think everyone loves the awkward moment.

TOP#3 Pricey

Comparing to other brands, the retail price is a bit pricey for me. Let’s compare with similar products I found on Amazon.

Norwex’s oven and grill cleaner costs $29.99 when you can get a similar item as $5.49 or $9.52 on Amazon. Which one will you choose?

You might debate that Norwex puts lots of effort to make all the products eco-friendly. That’s the reason why the price is higher than other brands. Yes, I got it. But, does that mean every eco-friendly product must be pricey than other competitors?

Norwex's products are pricey than other brands.

Who Is Norwex For?

I think Norwex suits housewives the most since they are normally the people in charge of purchasing all household products.

If you are also good at presentation, communication skills, marketing, I think it’s no harm to try Norwex to make a few bucks in you pocket and earn some FREE products.

If you are like me(not good at all the things I just mentioned), I would suggest you try other alternatives to make money online.

Can You Make Money Selling Norwex?

Yes, you can. This is the first cliche topic when we talk about making money with any MLM companies. The fundamental rules are:

  1. You put lots of time on Norwex.
  2. You host as many home parties as possible
  3. You recruit as many people as possible as a team to sell products
  4. The more products you & your team sell, the more you earn by Norwex.

Basically, the more people you recruit, and the more product you sell, the more money you’ll make.

Is Norwex A Scam?

No, definitely no! Norwex has legitimate products and received positive feedback from many customers. It’s an MLM to help you make money through its compensation plan. But, you need to recruit, recruit and recruit people into the same system to sell Norwex’s products to maximize your earning.

Before you go for Norwex, I hope you re-think what I dislike Norwex:

  1. They don’t have income disclosure to let you & me know the averagely annual income that a consultant can make.
  2. You need to host home parties to promote and demonstrate the powerful Enviro cloth to everyone that comes to your party. Isn’t it awkward that you take out a cloth to clean a surface in the middle of a party?
  3. It’s pricey! Norwex’s products are pricey than other competitors’ products.

I hope you get my points and will love to try my alternative way to make money online.

My Alternative Way to Make Money Online

My alternative way to make money online is through Affiliate Marketing instead of hosting home parties.

The best part of affiliate marketing is you don’t even need to buy any physical or digital products and sell to someone face to face. You also don’t need to convince people to join you as you downlines to build a team.

The Process of Affiliate Marketing

You only need to create a website or YouTube channel with quality content that makes people trust you then purchase them through your links.

The platform I am using currently is Wealthy Affiliate. The reasons are for all the training courses, every Friday night LIVE training courses, 24/7 sitesupport, and the most friendly community.
