What Is Norwex?

-Summary of Norwex-

Product Name: Norwex
Founders: founded in 1994 by Bjørn Nicolaisen in Norway
Product Type: Home cleaning & personal care MLM(Multi-levels Marketing)
Price: Starter kits($155-$408) + $250 requirement every three months
Recommend: No

Bjørn Nicolaisen found Norwex in Norway in 1994. He discovered a microfiber that could clean a dirty windshield with only water. Meaning you don’t need chemicals.

He began with this microfiber then expanded to all kinds of home cleaning & personal care products with the same revolutionary approach – cleaning without chemicals.

In 2007, Norwex introduced a patented technology called Baclock, a silver-based antibacterial agent embedded into the top-seller product – Enviro Cloth. It picks up 99% of bacteria when you wipe with Enviro Cloth. Then, the silver in the cloth kills the bacteria on Enviro Cloth over time.

Norwex expands into 15 countries and continues to grow its products every year.

Environ Cloth is the most famous product from Norwex.

What’s inside Norwex?

The products and the business plan. Let’s start with the products first.

Norwex Product Lines

  • Microfiber: Enviro Cloth, Window Cloth, Dusting Mitt, etc.
  • Household: Kitchen, Bathroom, Bedding, and Laundry related products. This includes All-purpose Kitchen Cloth, Mattress Cleaner, Liquid Laundry Detergent, Bathroom Cleaner, and Essential Oils.(Similar to Young Living & doTERRA)
  • Personal Care: Skincare products, Makeup Removal cloth, Lip & body balm, etc.
  • Family: Kids Towel, Baby Hooded Towel, Sport Towel, Car Cloth, Pet Towel, etc

Norwex develops microfiber for all kinds of cloth we need in the house, including towels we use every day, cleaning clothes, sport cloth, kid cloth, and pet cloth. Basically, every product from Norwex is eco-friendly!

Does Norwex Enviro Cloth Work?

Yes, they work well based on my research. There are more positive reviews than negative ones. Some complaints showed that Norwex’s cancellation and refund policy is problematic.

How To Make Money With Norwex?

There are two ways to make money with Norwex, and it’s the same as other MLMs in the industry.

  1. Selling Norwex products to make commissions
  2. Recruiting people in your team to hit group sales for extra bonuses

Getting Started

You sign up to become a Norwex consultant. Norwex will offer starter kits, and you could host home parties & sell them to your friends or anyone at the parties.

If you have a minimum of $2,000 in retail sales during the first 90 days, Norwex will not charge you the $200 starter kit. If not, you will be billed for the starter kit.

If you have a minimum of $2,000 in retail sales during the first 90 days, Norwex will not charge you the $200 starter kit. If not, you will be billed for the starter kit.

This is the biggest complaint from those who sign up to become a Norwex consultant since it is written in a smaller font in Norwex’s Success Builder booklet. So, please read carefully when you sign up for any MLM plans.

Norwex Compensation Plan

Here comes the most important part of this Norwex business plan. It’s better we know all the rules before we play the game.

  • Free Starter Kit: Norwex provides you the starter kit for FREE if you achieve $2,000 in retail sales within your first 90 days. If not, you need to pay $200 for the starter kit.
  • Retail Commission: 35% of on your personal retail sales (no minimum sales required). Norwex encourages every consultant to host home parties to boost sales.
  • $300 Free Product: If you recruit a new consultant who also makes a $2,000 in retail sales during the first 90 days after enrollment, you will get a $300 value product of your choice. If you get two, then you will get $600 products of your choice and so on.

For more details of Norwex’s compensation plan, you are more than welcome to check HERE or watch the YouTube video below.

How Much Do You Need to Sell to Stay Active?

To maintain as an active Norwex consultant, there are some requirements you need to achieve.

Every Norwex consultant must have a minimum of $250 in personal retail sales in a rolling three-month period.

If you fail to meet this requirement for six (6) consecutive months, your account is considered dormant, and you need to pay a re-activation fee.

If you make $0 in retail sales for 12 consecutive months, Norwex will remove you from the organization.

Now, we can calculate the total cost of becoming a Norwex consultant.

  • The starter kits$155-$408
  • The three-month requirement $250(250*4=$1,000)

The best is to spend $1,155 to join Norwex, while the worst is $1,408. Other costs include additional training, travel, gas, food, or miscellaneous expenses are not included, so the total cost must be higher than my calculation here.

Norwex Ranking

There are 8 different rankings for Norwex’s system. The higher the ranking, the more requirements you have.

For example, to keep active as a team coordinator, you need to recruit at least three new consultants who also make $250 during the first 90 days. As for yourself, you must have a minimum of $250 in personal retail sales in each calendar month.

People who cannot meet the requirement most likely purchase Norwex products for themselves just to qualify for commissions, so they end up losing more money than they can make.

Norwex Rankings

What I Liked About Norwex

TOP#1 Environment-friendly Products

“Cleaning your house without any chemicals” I love this idea, and I will use the Enviro cloth without considering the price.

It’s great that we have more companies that focus on creating environment-friendly products to keep it a better place for the next generations.

TOP#2 60-Day Satisfaction Guarantee

“What if I don’t like Norwex’s products?” Your customers might ask this question.

Norwex provides a 60-day guarantee if the products don’t meet 100% of the expectation. They will refund, replace or exchange any products within 60 days of purchase.

Norwex is proud of the high-quality microfiber, so they offer a 2-year microfiber warranty for any problem you may encounter outside of normal wear and tear.

Ugly Truth About Norwex

TOP#1 No Income Disclosure(Not Transparent)

Norwex has run business for more than two decades, but there is no income disclosure on its website. This is not transparent for everyone who likes to make money with Norwex.

Knowing a Norwex Consultant’s average annual income is important before signing up. If there is no income disclosure from Norwex, I will assume the annual income is so low that they don’t want you to know.

I found the income potential from their business builder booklet. They say if you host a home party with a $500 sales average. You can make $175 potentially. What if you make four home parties each week in a month? You can earn $700!

If you can make five parties per week in a month, you would make $3500! Sounds pretty impressive, but can you do this? This brings us to my next point.

TOP#2 Home Parties

They encourage you to host home parties to maximize your earnings, and you can host once every week or five times a week.

I don’t like to sell things in person/face to face, so that I won’t give Norwex a try. Another concern is you only host home parties for your friends, family, or colleagues when you first start. They might avoid you ever since.

Just try to imagine how you will show them Norwex’s Enviro Cloth in the middle of the parties. I don’t think everyone loves the awkward moment.

TOP#3 Expensive

Compared to other brands, Norwex product is expensive.

Norwex’s oven and grill cleaner cost $29.99 when you can get a similar item around $5.49-$9.52 on Amazon. Which one will you choose?

You might argue that Norwex puts lots of effort into making all the products eco-friendly. That’s why the price is higher than other brands. Yes, I got it. But does that mean every eco-friendly product must be pricey than other competitors?

Norwex's products are pricey than other brands.

Who Is Norwex For?

Norwex suits housewive the most since they are usually the people purchasing all household products.

If you are also good at presentation, communication skills, marketing, I think it’s no harm to try Norwex to make a few bucks and earn some FREE products.

If you are like me, not good at all the things I just mentioned, I suggest you try other alternatives to make money online.

Can You Make Money Selling Norwex?

Yes, you can. This is the first cliche topic when we talk about making money with any MLM company. The fundamental rules are:

  1. You host as many home parties as possible.
  2. You recruit as many people as possible.
  3. The more products you & your team sell, the more you earn by Norwex.

You don’t make money by simple recruitment, and this is the difference by calling it a pyramid scheme and an MLM business. By recruiting people under your team and teaching them to do the same as you, you surely can make money with Norwex.

Is Norwex A Scam?

No, definitely no!

Norwex has legitimate products and receives positive reviews from real customers. It’s an MLM business plan that helps you make money through its compensation plan.

But, you need to recruit, recruit and recruit people into the same system to sell Norwex’s products to maximize your earning. This is what people hate the most for every MLM business.

Before you sign up with Norwex, I hope this review helps you well. Let’s rewind three things I dislike from Norwex’s business plan.

  1. They don’t have income disclosure to let you know the average annual income that a consultant can make.
  2. You need to host home parties to promote Enviro cloth to everyone that comes to your party. Isn’t it awkward that you take out a cloth to clean a surface in the middle of a party?
  3. It’s expensive! Norwex’s products are pricey than other competitors.

If you ask me whether I will join Norwex to make money, my answer is no. I know who I am and my personality, so this is not my cup of tea. Let me show you my alternative right below to make money online.

My Alternative Way to Make Money Online

My alternative to making money online is through Affiliate Marketing instead of hosting home parties.

The best part of affiliate marketing is you don’t need to buy any physical products and sell them face to face. You don’t need to recruit people under you to hit group sales.

You can start a blog running an affiliate marketing business. With good SEO, keyword researches, and quality content, you will drive free & organic traffic to your site.

After building trust with your readers, they will try the products you are promoting. Here come your earning potentials.
