How I Create Quality Content?

Writing quality content is key to running a successful blog, but how is your content considered high-quality? That’s what I am going to discuss today.

In this article, you’ll learn what quality content is and how you can make it properly. It requires some writing skills and some practice. But, don’t worry, you don’t need to be an author to complete these tasks.

Focusing on the right things, you will write quality content that gives people value, and they will love to read it. Without any delay, let’s get started!

What Is Quality Content?

How to define quality content? That’s the million-dollar question!

Quality content helps you attract more visitors, lower the bounce rate, and get more conversions. When it comes to quality content, it often includes a few characteristics in common:

  • Comprehensive
  • Helpful
  • Informative
  • Up-to-date
  • Easy to read

Overall, you’ll measure high-quality content by determining whether it achieves your marketing goals, and each content has different requirements to be considered high quality.

We can use some of the most common KPIs to gauge the quality of content:

  1. Ranking on Google page one for your target keywords
  2. Increasing website traffic through organic search results
  3. Generating leads and sales
  4. Improving click-through rates and lowering bounce rates
  5. Getting social shares and visits to your website from social media platforms

If your content achieves those KPIs, your content strategy is on the right track.

How To Create Quality Content?

1. Write For Your Readers, Not Yourself

The first step in creating high-quality content is to include the information your readers want. You should always consider writing for your readers when you start blog posts. Think about what topics interest them the most instead of yourself.

For example, if you are a blogger, you must focus on what your readers like to read about. If you have an e-commerce site, you want your readers to know the products or services you promote.

Here are a few things you can go through before your brainstorming:

  • What interests your readers?
  • What news or events do they follow?
  • What problems do they want to fix?

You may also do keyword research to know exactly what your readers use. In that case, you can write enough information in your posts with the right keywords.

Pro Tip: How I Start A Blog? A step-by-step guide to show you how to start a blog for beginners without any skills.

2. Do Thorough Research and Fact Check

The best way to build trust with your readers is by providing them with an informative blog post.

Before publishing your content, you can thoroughly research and fact-check everything to find up-to-date data(within 2-3 years, depending on the topics.) Don’t forget to only source from authority websites since they are reputable and unbiased.

For example, I write multi-level marketing company reviews for my readers to find the perfect MLM business opportunities. I want to provide them with the most current compensation plan and income disclosure so they can know their income potential.

To achieve that, I update my MLM reviews every six months with the correct numbers from MLM companies’ websites. My readers can trust my reviews and use them as future references.

3. Think About Search Intent and Call to Action

What does search intent mean? Search intent is why people conduct online searches, and it’s the term to describe their purposes.

For example, do your readers have problems that need to be solved? If you serve them by showing them a product, they will leave your posts.

If they want to buy something online, you cannot offer them some discussions about a specific product. You will lose them eventually.

Your readers’ search intent makes a significant impact in deciding the quality of your content. Putting search intent as the top priority when writing an article helps you determine the focus on the content and the call-to-action(CTA) you like to add. Doing that makes your content, CTA, and goals aligned.

Doesn’t know what a call to action is? Let me show you:

4. Make Your Content Readable

If you want people to read your entire blog post, you must make your content easy to read.

No one likes to read giant blocks of text with massive amounts of information. Making your content readable helps search engines crawl, index, and rank your websites.

Here are a few things you can follow:

  • limit the use of difficult words, and try to write as you talk
  • make your sentence short
  • avoid using the same word, and try synonyms
  • proper headings, subheadings, and paragraphs
  • be personal in writing and have fun

Pro Tip: How I Rank On Google? Learn how to rank your articles on Google with on-page SEO & off-page SEO.

5. Be Trustworthy

When people land on your website, it’s time to build trust, especially when they don’t know you well.

Besides informative product reviews or valuable how-to articles, you can add your photo in the author box and the “About Me” page, which helps you build trust with your target audience and gives your site a personal feel.

6. Keep Your Content Up To Date

Another critical element is updating your content occasionally to ensure it’s up-to-date.

Why is it so important? This helps your readers find the correct information on your website and shows that you continuously develop the website with the information people need. (Meaning: it builds trust and keeps people coming back to your website for more.)

Keeping your content up to date works well for SEO and tells search engines that your site is alive and relevant.

7. Use Analytical Data to Measure Content Performance to Adjust Strategy

Even if you create high-quality content, we still need numbers to prove it. You may use the most common KPIs to gauge the quality of content or check your Google Analytics to know how your content is doing.

If you find some good blog posts, you could read them and guess what makes them perform well. Based on your assumptions, you can create quality content with the same formula.

Bonus: Invest In Quality Website Hosting, Website Builder, and WordPress Theme!

The seven steps I’ve shared should help you write quality content. In the next step, I highlight another key concept: investing in extra services that help you succeed online.

When I started blogging, I had little budget to invest in paid website hosting, website builder, and a WordPress theme. I used the free service and tools to build my website, hoping my content would rank higher on SERP with tons of organic traffic.

However, after subscribing to premium services, I found my website ranks faster and higher on search results, which brings me more visitors to make more sales.

  • For Website hosting and website builder, I chose Wealthy Affiliate to do the heavy lifting for me.
  • For the WordPress theme, I chose GenratePress Premium to better structure my website with a professional look.

PS. You don’t have to pay for extra tools for now. But my recommendations are things I have already tried and love using to build my website. You can take them as references, and maybe you will need them someday.

How I Create A $1000 Worth Product Review?

Now, I like to share my results on how much a quality product review can make. Feel excited?

I started this blog post in 2019, and the main idea here is to find online business opportunities to make money online with a big smile, primarily through affiliate marketing. My ultimate goal is to quit my 9-5 and work anytime & anywhere with my laptop, just like how a digital nomad works and lives.

Through constant self-education and trial & error, I know it’s possible to make decent money from your blog posts. Here is the process I write my product reviews:

1. Find the long-tail keyword for your post title by Google search or keyword research tool. Here, I use Jaaxy.

Jaaxy Review - keyword research

2. Type the long-tail keywords to see whether there is user-generated content on page one of Google. If yes, it’s a great keyword; if no, read the first 3-5 articles on page one

3. Take notes of what keywords, phrases, and article structure are used in user-generated content and articles

4. Visit top review sites to see real customers’ comments and copy & paste some into your reviews.

Here are some that I often visit when creating my product reviews:

  • Trustpilot
  • Sitejabber
  • Better Business Bureau(BBB)
  • Amazon Customer Reviews
  • Facebook Ratings and Reviews

5. Follow the abovementioned points to create quality content to solve people’s problems

6. Repurpose the content and share it on my social media platforms

Here are some examples of how I repurpose my content for Pinterest:

I use Canva to repurpose my content into social media posts(see below.)

Canva is an online graphic design platform that helps you design everything you need. You can use it to create astonishing banners, pins, or images for your website, social media, or YouTube channel. I use Canva Pro because it adds advanced features that suit my needs. For all the tools I used, feel free to check my resource page.

7. Ask for some comments until it gets indexed on Google

The Wealthy Affiliate online community helps me with this. After publishing my content, I ask for comments inside WA, and other WA members will love to read my articles and leave their comments.

8. Update content after 9-12 months

Now, you get my step-by-step tutorial on creating a quality product review, and I like to show you how much I make with a product review.

How Much Do I Earn With A Product Review?

Part 01: Referral earnings, total $1,068.5(Oct’23 updated)

If people subscribe to Wealthy Affiliate Premium through my affiliate link, I can make commissions.

Wealthy Affiliate earning proof Oct 2023
Wealthy Affiliate earning proof Oct 2023
  • WA Premium: Commissions are $20.00 for the first month $49.00 special offer, then $23.50 thereafter. You earn $235 for Premium recurring yearly.
  • WA Premium Plus: Commissions are $40.00 for the first month $99.00 special offer, then $46.50 thereafter. You earn $320 for Premium Plus recurring yearly.

Part 02: Wealthy Affiliate Credits(2 credits=$1), total $70

If people join WA through your links but only complete their account setup, you earn two credits that equal $1. You also earn two credits if they purchase a domain name at WA.

The total earning from my WA review is now $1,068.5+$70=$1,138.5, and I am sure it will keep bringing me commission down the road.

It’s only one product review, and what if you have ten, fifty, or maybe a hundred articles that make money online when you sleep? Imagine the possibility, and you will know how you will make it.

I understand earning $400 from one product review is less than other successful bloggers, but I would not like to compete in this post.

I intend to document my progress in my financial status and the way to online success and, most importantly, give you motivation and inspiration today.

If you stick to the point of creating quality content, you will see positive results very soon from your blog posts. And, maybe you can make more from one product review. The key is NEVER GIVE UP and keep creating quality content.

I hope you enjoy this blog post so far. If you have something to comment on, you are more than welcome to leave your words in the comment section below. I will try my best to reply in 24 hours.

  1. Hello Matt,

I really enjoyed reading your article! It reminded me how important writing quality content is for my website’s success!
Thank you also for sharing your example of how much you make from affiliate marketing. I am still working on this. I only make money with AdSense ads right now, I hope to try reselling products soon. I wrote one review article 2 years ago, but since I didn’t sell, amazon stopped my affiliate account… That was a bummer. But I only had 22 posts published at that time.
As you said, we should never give up!

I followed everything you suggested, however, I didn’t understand how to see whether or not a long-tail keyword is user generated on page one of google. If you have more information or a tutorial on that aspect, could you let me know?

Thanks again for this informative post.

  3. Hi Matt!

Thank you for this quality post! If people still can’t understand what quality content is after this detailed explanation, I recommend that they read and thoroughly analyze their competitors’ top-ranking blog posts on search engines.

They should pay attention to the title, how they wrote it, how they break down the parts of the article, as well as the form itself. Although the substance is more important than the form, the structure still affects the readability of the text, which is also a critical part of the user experience.

What exactly are the KPIs you are referring to?

    • Hi Chas,

Yes, content is king if you like to monetize your blog. πŸ™‚ Each type of content has its marketing goals.

For example, a product review should convert people to purchase the product you promote. The most important KPI here is “Generating leads and sales.” If you create a blog post with the intent of more website traffic, ranking on Google page one should be the KPI.

Here are some of the most common KPIs to gauge the quality of content:
Ranking on Google page one for your target keywords

  8. As an affiliate marker in the MMO industry, I know how important content is and I find your first seven steps interesting. When you cover creating helpful content when writing for your readers, I sense how important this is.

You mention this more than once so this tells me that you find this important. I find this one of the most important requirements too. I noticed you’re into writing MLM reviews, and I agree updating content is vitally important when writing for MLM as things change so quickly.

Finally, I can’t agree with you more about always having a ”Call to Action” I think we both know there needs to be a strategy in place for direction. Great post and thank You! for sharing.

    • Hi Stephen,

Yes, I like writing MLM reviews since it helps me understand how profitable the business is. My friends around my age ever joined one or two MLM companies to make extra money, but I never heard good news from them. Therefore, I start studying MLM compensation structure and income disclosure to know this is not for me.

As for the call to action, your readers sometimes didn’t know what to do or where to go after reading your posts. So you need to show them the next step they can take if they like to try something new. I am glad we are in the same boat. πŸ™‚

  9. For me, the key take away here is “Be Trustworthy” – have integrity. Way too many scam artists out there trying to con you into buying complete crap and in doing so stupidly destroying their own credibility.

As my dad would always say. They only catch me out once and then I will never ever buy from them again. Trust leads to sales.

    Reply
    • Hi Schalk,

Thanks for the comment. Being trustworthy is essential for your content creation. Your readers need to trust you first, and then they will consider purchasing from you. If you consistently create content to promote scammy products, you may lose all your target audience. Every content market should keep this in mind when creating content.

Updating existing content is also important and I have periodically updated my content when something was not relevant anymore or just some corrections needed to be made. I find it a little time-consuming to update old posts but I understand that it is key, since our content should always be up to date.
I also use Canva, especially for Pins, and it works very well, it’s easy to use.

    • Hi Christine,

Thanks for the comment. πŸ™‚ Updating does help your SERP rankings. In Aug’22, I kept updating my content, which attracted 50% more traffic to my site. That was when I started believing this strategy works well.

Typically, it takes me 2-3 hours to write an article, sometimes longer, but it only takes me 30 minutes to update old content. So, instead of working hard, we could work smarter. πŸ™‚ I am glad you also use Canva, the best tool for bloggers, affiliate marketing beginners, and small business owners.

Thanks for the comment. I hope it helps you well. πŸ™‚ The key is never give up and stick to your plan. Step by step, you will see positive results from your blogs. The copy & paste is meant to screenshot some of the actual users’ feedback on review sites, both positive and negative. They could be used as references depending on the topics you are writing about. Or, you can use the screenshots and add external links to review sites. πŸ™‚
